ECO-CHURCH NEWS

As Spring approaches, the Tenby Daffodil bulbs I planted on

the field (road side), are starting to grow. We may or may not

get flowers in their first year while they establish – wait and see!

Temporary posts and tape are up to protect them, and more

permanent and less obtrusive marker posts are being prepared.

At the other end of the field there are Cow Slips, again we do no

t know if they will flower in their first year.

That’s the fun of wildlife gardening, you wait and see what develops!

LIFESTYLE TIPS This month Organic Food

Did you know that the UK is the most nature depleted country in the world?

Nothing to be proud of is it?

Since the second World War the combined use of pesticides, herbicides

and chemical fertilizers used in food production, has had a catastrophic

effect on the soil, waterways, biodiversity and our health.  Bees and insects

have suffered very badly.  So what can we do as individuals?

  • Seek out and purchase organic food.  Locally produced if you can.
  • It may cost more, so perhaps you could buy some organic produce,
  • it depends on how much you can afford and value your health?
  • Grow your own veg, that way you can control what goes on it during cultivation.
  • Try not to use peat-based compost in your seed raising and potting.

Next month I will be focusing on Transport.
